Her cat-ketch rig is easy to handle and offers superb performance, especially off the wind, which makes her ideal for trade wind cruising. This particular example has been maintained to a high standard, and is equipped for long distance liveaboard sailing, and her centre-cockpit design gives spacious accommodation in two cabins plus saloon., BOAT NAME: Vasco de Gama; SPECS: Keel: Full; DIMENSIONS: LOA: 40 ft 0 in, Beam: 12 ft 0 in, LWL: 35 ft 0 in, Maximum Draft: 4 ft 11 in, Displacement: 9072 kgs, Ballast: 2508 kgs; ENGINES: Total Power: 50 HP, Engine 1:, Engine Brand: Perkins, Engine Model: 4108, Engine Type: Inboard, Engine/Fuel Type: Diesel, Propeller: Folding propeller, Drive Type: Direct Drive, Engine Power: 50 HP, , TANKS: Fresh Water Tanks: 1 Plastic (350 Liters), Fuel Tanks: 1 Stainless steel (500 Liters), Holding Tanks: 1 Plastic (200 Liters) BUILD: Freedom 40CC Built by Freedom Yachts UK to designs by Gary Hoyt GRP Hull and deck - repainted 2014Blue GRP hull.White GRP deck with blue nonslip matting White GRP superstructure with blue non slip mattingLong lead keelWheel steeringLast osmosis treatment 9 Years Last structural survey 5 Years MECHANICAL AND ELECTRICALS: Perkins 4108 50hp completely reconditioned in Hythe Marina (UK) in 2007.Gearbox new in 2012 installed Leros, Greece.Shaft drive folding propVetus bowthrusterO2 WatermakerELECTRICALS12v onboard circuitsYacht rewired 20072 x GM 220amp/h domestic batteries 2009GM 220amp/h engine starter battery 2009GM120amp/h bowthruster battery 2006Charging via solar, wind and alternatorInverterBattery chargerSolar panelsShore power RIG: Cat-Ketch unstayed rig. During that time they had two children, transited the Panama Canal both ways and sailed the Atlantic four times. She was then bought by her next owner, a professional British skipper, in Palma de Majorca and he lived on her there until 2002 when he sailed her back to the UK and stored her on the hard at Yarmouth, Isle of Wight, UK. He sold her to the current owners in 2005. During 2006/7 she had a major rebuild, and the new owners planned to sail her from the Solent to India and back for a work project but Somali pirates persuaded them to fly the final part from the Middle East instead. Nevertheless she is equipped for blue water. Now she has become a floating Mediterranean villa, in the water all summer and on the hard in winter. The owners have reached the age where they need to downsize and so very reluctantly are offering their much loved yacht and floating home for sale.
