Descripción

Built in 1965 by Hillyards, this 20 ton ketch was built to order for a gentleman who specified a higher quality boat than Hillyards normally built, which included the use of teak in all of the coachroof and dog house coamings, plus a taller rig for increased performance. Extensive and thorough refit between 2011 and 2015 including new rig, engine and systems. She is now a first class yacht, fully equipped with everything required for long distance cruising or comfortable live aboard. It would be hard to find a better Hillyard or a more comfortable and spacious yacht of this length., SPECS: Builder: Hillyards Yard, Littlehampton, Designer: David Hillyard, Flag of Registry: United Kingdom, Keel: Full; DIMENSIONS: LOA: 42 ft 0 in, Beam: 11 ft 6 in, Length on Deck: 42 ft 0 in, Minimum Draft: 5 ft 6 in, Maximum Draft: 5 ft 6 in, Headroom: 6 ft 1 in; ENGINES: Total Power: 75 HP, Engine 1:, Engine Brand: Beta Marine, Year Built: 2012, Engine Type: Inboard, Engine/Fuel Type: Diesel, Drive Type: Direct Drive, Engine Power: 75 HP, , Cruising Speed: 8 knots, TANKS: Fresh Water Tanks: 2 Plastic (50), Fuel Tanks: 2 Plastic (75); ACCOMMODATIONS: Number of single berths: 2, Number of twin berths: 2, Number of cabins: 3, Number of heads: 2; ELECTRONICS: VHF, Log-speedometer, Radar, Autopilot, Plotter, Depthsounder, Wind speed and direction, Compass; SAILS: Furling genoa, Battened mainsail; RIGGING: Steering wheel; INSIDE EQUIPMENT: Heating, Oven, Electric bilge pump, Hot water, Marine head, Manual bilge pump; ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT: Inverter, Shore power inlet; OUTSIDE EQUIPMENT/EXTRAS: Radar reflector, Cockpit cushions, Hydraulic windlass; COVERS: Mainsail cover, Genoa cover, Cockpit cover; ADDITIONAL EQUIPMENT: Beaching legs TRADITIONAL 20 TON HILLYARD KETCH: Wooden Ships Comments At 20 Thames Tons this is one the larger boats in the Hillyard range yet she keeps the same design format of a centre cockpit, aft cabin, large saloon and further sleeping accommodation forward.  Built in 1965 at Littlehampton. This was the fourth Hillyard built for the original owner and he specified some significant improvements on the standard build including teak for the bright work instead of mahogany, perhaps the only post war Hillyard to have this, improved interior joinery and a taller rig for better performance. Given a major refit in previous ownership between 2011 and 2015 including new rigging and sails, new engine, complete cosmetic refit and all new equipment.  She is now an extremely smart and well found yacht, complete with everything required on a cruising yacht and ready to sail away. She has a superb sheltered cockpit, not as deep as most Hillyards but very comfortable making her a safe sea boat and a deck saloon with all round visibility and comfortable seating.  The ketch rig is easily handled by a small crew and the addition of modern winches and roller furling head sails make life very easy at sea.  There are so many features on this boat which make her the ideal cruising yacht which shows that David Hillyard was a very clever yacht designer who was forging ahead in the industry and laying down markers that would last for many years.   Construction Planked in mahogany all copper fastened to sawn oak frames with steamed intermediate oak timbers. Oak backbone and grown oak floors. External iron ballast keel. T&G pine decks overlaid with cascover sheathing.
