Descripción

Designed by Knud Reimers as a one off but the similarities to his famous and very successful Tumlare can be seen. Rebuilt by the present professional shipwright owner to an exceptionally high standard with all new frames and fastenings, new keel bolts, new deck, new interior, systems and rig. Perfectly presented and ready to go sailing, perfect for regatta racing as she is light enough to be transported on a road trailer behind a 4x4 vehicle. It would be hard to find a smarter more crisp boat of her type., BOAT NAME: Cameleon; SPECS: Builder: Not known, Designer: Knud Reimers, Keel: Full; DIMENSIONS: LOA: 29 ft 0 in, Beam: 6 ft 11 in, Length on Deck: 29 ft 0 in, Minimum Draft: 4 ft 6 in, Maximum Draft: 4 ft 6 in, Headroom: 5 ft 0 in; ENGINES: Total Power: 9 HP, Engine 1:, Engine Brand: Yanmar, Year Built: 2000, Engine Model: 1GM10, Engine Type: Inboard, Engine/Fuel Type: Diesel, Propeller: 2 blade propeller, Drive Type: Direct Drive, Engine Power: 9 HP, , Cruising Speed: 5 knots, TANKS: Fuel Tanks: 1 Stainless steel (3); ACCOMMODATIONS: Number of single berths: 2, Number of double berths: 1; SAILS: Battened mainsail, Spinnaker, Genoa; RIGGING: Tiller; ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT: Electrical Circuit: 12V SPECIFICATION: Wooden Ships Comments Designed by Knud Reimers and built as his own yacht in 1957.  The design is thought to be a one off but it is easy to see similarities with the famous but smaller Tumlare, one of Reimers most successful designs. Bought by the present professional shipwright owner in 2009 as a project, he spent 5 years during evenings and weekends rebuilding the boat to a very high standard.  The keel was removed, all frames replaced with new fastenings, a complete new deck and new rig.  She is now as good as new after her launch in 2014 but has been used very little since then. She has proved to be very easy to handle and a joy to sail, perfect as a classic regatta boat, or with a little modification to the interior, could make a superb small cruising boat for weekend sailing. Although she does not currently have a road trailer she is light enough to be towed behind a 4x4 vehicle meaning she could easily and cost effectively be transported between regattas making her very versatile. An immaculate and totally sound boat, absolutely ready to be sailed.  Extensive photo library of the rebuild detailing every stage and showing the attention to detail which makes this such an impressive yacht.  Nominated for the Classic Boat Awards 2015.   Length on Deck                 29' Length Waterline             24' Beam                                    6'10 Draft                                      4'6     Construction Planked in 3/4 Honduras mahogany fastened with bronze screws to a mixture of steam bent and laminated oak timbers of 1 x 1 at 10 centres.
