Tra le caratteristiche salienti, la leggerezza dello scafo abbinato ad una superficie velica ridotta, quindi barche agili e veloci, semplici da gestire. L'ULDB 53 GATEWAY ha un ampio pozzetto con una tuga raccolta e, internamente, 3 cabine con 2 bagni luminosi e molto aerati grazie ai molteplici obl. ben armata con albero con tre ordini di crocette, tangone e bompresso in carbonio, generatore portatile, dissalatore, carrelli per randa steccata, winch elettrico. GATEWAY sempre stata curata e aggiornata dal suo armatore, infatti nel 2020 sono stati sostituiti il sartiame in tondino, le prese a mare, il motore (con sole 320 ore di moto), la cuffia e le batterie. In 2019, new mainsail and genoa were added, while in 2016 two new gennakers.
