The Van de Stadt 34 is a solid built by the current owner. You can see his professionalism also on other yachts that he built such as the beatiful Classic Addy (see www.classicaddy.nl). Since the boat is stored indoors well conserved she is in much better state than to be expected based only on her age.
The deklayout is practical and the placement of the deck ware is well chosen. All halyards and trim lines are led aft to the cockpit and from the steering position mainsheet and genoa sheets can be operated so that the boat easy to sail solo. The genoa is placed on a furling system. The mainsail can be reefed be quick and easy. The mast is firmly with extra backstays. In bad weather the so-called "pumping" of the mast is prevented. The interior is remarkably spacious for a boat of this length. The cozy salon has two large sofas with ample storage space. To port is an L-shaped galley with double sink, icebox, and 3 burner stove. The head with sink is easily accessible and there is ample room to move. To starboard is the navigation area with switch panel, VHF and GPS. The rest of the navigation instruments are easy to read mounted under the cabin entrance. There are two double cabins in front and aft. The aft cabin is surprisingly large, even compared with much larger modern ships.
